Terms of Service
Effective date: March 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GrooveID API, developer portal, documentation, and any related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by GrooveID ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Audio rights and content
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights, licences, and permissions to upload, store, and process audio files via the Service. GrooveID does not review or verify that uploaded audio complies with copyright law, licensing agreements, or any other third-party rights. By uploading audio you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content or have a licence that permits the upload and processing described herein.
- Your use of the Service does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- The audio does not violate any applicable law or the Acceptable Use Policy.
GrooveID stores only a spectral fingerprint of the audio (an abstract mathematical representation), not the original audio file. The original file is deleted immediately after fingerprinting.
4. Service availability
Free-tier accounts are provided on an "as-is, as-available" basis with no uptime guarantee or SLA. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. Paid accounts may request a separate SLA agreement.
5. Rate limits and usage
Free accounts are limited to 1,000 recognition calls per calendar month. Exceeding this limit
will result in 429 responses until the next billing period. We reserve the right
to adjust limits at any time.
6. Prohibited conduct
See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full list of prohibited activities.
In addition, you may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the fingerprinting algorithm.
- Resell or sublicense access to the API without our written consent.
- Use the Service to build a competing audio identification service without prior agreement.
- Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the Service.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or for any other reason at our discretion. You may terminate your account at any time from the developer portal. Termination results in deletion of all associated data, including libraries and fingerprints.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT RECOGNITION RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GROOVEID SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
